The summer between my junior and senior year I had an internship with my dream company, Hilton. I was super excited for my internship because I knew it would be an amazing experience for me to learn a lot of new skills.
During my internship, I did learn a whole lot of new skills and about the hospitality industry as a whole! I never worked at a front desk before so I got great customer service experience. I was able to master Hilton's reservation system, OnQ which is beneficial for my future if and hopefully when I work for Hilton again. I learned that hotels are very fast-paced and how to handle a huge rush of guests.
I absolutely loved my internship at the Hilton Newark Airport! I worked with the best group of people and was really able to come out of my shell. Hilton is a great company to work for and I hope to get a job with them when I graduate in the Spring!
Housekeeping
Intern
Fair Hills Resort | Detriot Lakes, Minnesota
The summer after my freshman year of college I had my internship at Fair Hills Resort. I was chosen to be one of the two housekeeping interns at the resort. This was my first internship so I was not sure what to expect, but I gained a lot of valuable knowledge about housekeeping and how hotels and resorts run as a whole.
Some of my tasks as housekeeping intern were making the schedule every week for all of the housekeepers, inspecting the cabins based on our standards, assigning housekeepers to what cabins to clean, stepping in and cleaning rooms when needed, and much more!
It was a very busy summer, but Fair Hills has a lot of opportunities for the interns to have fun! Every week we performed a Hootananny for the guests. This was one of my favorite parts of each week.
